What if counselling and psychotherapy were based on a money back guarantee for mutually agreed client outcomes? I wonder what difference this may make to client and therapist work?
Assuming goals are realistic and really well formed…
Human change is a funny thing!
As a random exercise I sometimes challenge a client with a money back guarantee – If they fail to achieve the goals they set during therapy and in a reasonable time frame and with all the planning in place they can have a session for free. So far no clients have won a session for failing in their goals. That is a unique track record.
