The G7 or Group of Seven nations includes, “Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States. These countries, with the seven largest IMF-described advanced economies in the world, represent 58% of the global net wealth ($317 trillion). The G7 countries also represent more than 46% of the global gross domestic product (GDP) based on nominal values, and more than 32% of the global GDP based on purchasing power parity. The European Union is also represented at the G7 summit.” (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Group_of_Seven).
As such, the movement between these global leaders and the rest of us makes fairly large ripples across the planet earth influencing policy directions, development, economies, trade, commerce, social and welfare, culture and participation. This is in part why ATS Pty Ltd is humbled by the opportunity to be a member of the Global Coalition for Youth Mental Health. This coalition has in recent years advanced the cause of drawing greater social and political awareness to many important issues.
Most recently, the coalition has contributed to the Y7 Summit during the G7 Summit of 2019 in Paris.
“Because of [the Global Coalition on Youth Mental Health’s] enthusiasm and urgency in promoting the importance of youth mental health to world leaders, the Y7 Call to Action includes mental health as a key priority throughout all of their focus areas. Most significantly, they have recognized the pioneering work of the Coalition and have praised our ethos as a key driver within the communiqué:
“Commit to promoting young people’s wellbeing by investing in community youth services, particularly those that support young people’s mental health, following the ethos of the Global Coalition on Youth Mental Health.”
If you have time to click on the link to the Y7 Call to Action above, you will be inspired by the range of statements and initiatives that arise. These forward movements have potential to impact rural and regional Australia in positive ways, as we relate to other nations and regions of the world. We are, after all, interwoven and interconnected.
ATS Pty Ltd commends the efforts of our partner agencies and members of the Global Coalition for Youth Mental Health.
